Students have been working so hard in class each day. We just made it through our third round of benchmark tests. I'm so proud of everyone! Let's keep up the hard work as the warm weather has finally sprung! Outdoor recess days are finally here! Keep working hard!
Still amidst the upcoming winter weather forecasts, we are "thinking spring" in room 25. With the relaxing thoughts of sunshine comes the exciting thoughts of SOLs. We have really "turned on the heat" in the past few weeks as students have gained much more independence and expectations as they are now closer to being a fourth grader than a second grader! Practicing vocabulary with newly learned vocabulary games, multiplication speed tests, I-time sheets and Reader's Notebooks are just a few of the new responsibilities this second semester has brought upon the students. I am SO PROUD of everyone's efforts, and the improvements and growth I am observing is incredible. Keep up the wonderful work both at home and school, and SOLs will be sure to not "spring" upon us without warning! :)
Wow! How is it already time for Thanksgiving? This year is truly flying! Students created the phases of the moon with oreos this week to wrap up our study of cycles in nature.
Over break, focus on reading some nonfiction books. At least 3 reading logs will be due when we return. Any extra reading log days will be extra credit. An extra credit math packet will also be collected upon returning from break. Enjoy your time with your family The students had a blast this week traveling to different third grade teachers to explore scientific investigations. In my classroom, students discovered what different types of lights will do to glow-in-the-dark paper.
