Students in Timmy Town work to become "self-managers". Self-managers are students who need no assistance from the teacher in order to make good decisions and sustain self-control. Self-managers are entitled to a list of special privileges within the classroom. A student can be removed from self-manager status if he or she is not showing the ability to self-manage.
In our classroom, we have important jobs as citizens of the community of Timmy Town. Each student has a half year occupation and will reapply for a new position after the holidays.

Homework Policy
*Homework grades will be given based on the completion of the assignment. A completed assignment will receive full credit. Late/missing assignments will not receive full credit. Missing assignments could result in the loss of privileges, such as the loss of recess time.

Students earn beads when they are doing an exceptional job at one of the aspects of the SOAR model. They pick a stick when they are failing to comply with the SOAR model and reflect on their decisions using a SOAR sheet. The sheet must be signed and returned to school the following day.

The mission in my classroom is to provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed at his or her greatest potential. While studying and preparing for the first year of the SOL tests, each student will discover a wide range of material in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
